Steve Hale
I am a Chartered and Certified accountant with qualifications from both the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). I joined Perrys in 1999 having trained and qualified with a smaller practice in South East London.
As well as advising a wide range of clients on accounts, audit and tax issues, I head up the corporate finance team advising on acquisitions and disposals of businesses.
I am passionate about cooking and when I am not either in the office or in the kitchen I try to spend a bit of time playing tennis and squash and being childish with my two young sons.
Doug Shanks
I started working for Perrys in 1999, working at the Wrotham office from raw trainee to office manager and I have now moved to our new Orpington office to support Steve in this new adventure. I have dealt with a wide range of clients from sole traders to multi-national companies in my time with the company.
Away from the office I enjoy playing competitive league badminton for a local club and spending time with my family, walking, gardening and watching most sports.
Tom Kirkham
I graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2004 with a BA(Hons.) degree in Economics, and joined Perrys at the Tunbridge Wells branch in 2005. I have recently moved to work in the new office in Orpington.
I have progressed from a trainee with minimal accounting experience, to my current position where I lead the audits of some of our biggest clients, as well as dealing with taxation and statutory accounts for smaller companies. I have recently assisted some of the partners on some corporate finance assignments which I have found particularly interesting.
I enjoy playing football, mountain biking and snowboarding, and I am currently training for the London Triathlon in September.
I also like music and play the piano/keyboard and guitar, and I enjoy going to watch bands in my spare time.
Greg Jones
I have recently joined Perry’s after finishing my A-Levels for which I studied Business, Geography & ICT. Here at Perry’s I am working towards my ACCA qualification in the hope of becoming a certified accountant.
I am also keen golfer and a huge fan of music.
Abigail Aitken
My name is Abigail Aitken and I am Steve Hale’s Secretary at the Orpington office. I studied the ILEX Legal Secretary Diploma at North West Kent College and prior to working for Perry’s I worked for The David Law Firm as a Legal Assistant. My hobbies include socialising with friends, boxercise and Irish dancing. I recently climbed Ben Nevis for charity, and I am looking forward to the next challenge.
Perrys Orpington is headed up by ‘local boy’ Steve Hale who is delighted to have returned to his South East London roots. (Steve began his career in Chislehurst and Sidcup before moving away from the area.) As a Perrys director, Steve is responsible for the overall running of the Orpington Branch. Steve is also a renowned expert in corporate finance and a provisional member of the Expert Witness Institute.

Doug Shanks, the manager. He is responsible for the day to day work in the branch. Doug assists Steve and oversees and supports Tom and Greg. Doug is responsible for tax affairs and other statutory compliance. Tom Kirkham is our senior accountant responsible for accounts and audit and tax work and is Doug’s right hand man!
Greg Jones is our accounts trainee. A highly enthusiastic school-leaver, keen to learn the dark art of accountancy! Abi Aitken is the secretary, receptionist and all-round “hold it all together” person.
